THE ART OF SAYING NO

The most powerful words are ‘yes’ and ‘no’: Do you ever find yourself saying 'yes' when you really mean 'no'? As women, we're often conditioned to be the helpers, the fixers, and the ones who carry the emotional load. But often every 'yes' to someone else is a 'no' to yourself. It's time to reclaim your power by mastering the art of the polite 'no.' It’s not selfish; it’s an act of self-preservation.
The Pause-Before-You-Agree Trick: The next time someone asks for your time or energy, don't give an immediate answer. Instead, say, 'Let me check my calendar and get back to you.' This simple phrase gives you a moment to breathe, evaluate your priorities, and decide if it's truly a good fit for you. It puts you in control, not the request.
Saying No is relatively easier for some than it is for others. However, I would like to point out that establishing boundaries with a polite and firm ‘no’ is necessary for every women’s Wellness. We instinctively know what we need; the time is now for us to start or continue to use our yes-es and nos accordingly.

Mindful Minis

Herbal Tea Ritual
Brew a cup of herbal tea and give yourself five minutes to just sit and sip it. The act of preparing and enjoying it is a mini-ritual that forces you to slow down and create a pause in your day.

Notify-less
Turn off non-essential app notifications on your phone. This simple change reduces the constant 'pings' that pull your attention away and helps you reclaim your focus throughout the day.

Hand Stretch
Hold a gentle, sustained stretch for your wrists and fingers. This can relieve the tension built up from typing all day and serves as a physical cue to release stress.
WEEKLY RESET
Reflection
My 'No' for the Week: What is one specific request I will politely decline this week in order to protect my time or energy?
My Boundary: What is one simple boundary I will set this week to protect my time and energy?

Affirmation
I am a worthy person whose time and energy are valuable. I say 'no' to others so I can say 'yes' to myself. I am in control of my decisions, and my boundaries are a form of self-care.
Prayer
Lord, help me to remember daily that I am worthy and my time and energy are valuable. You have given me the ability to say ‘no’ to others so I can say ‘yes’ to myself. I can be in control of my decisions and my boundaries are a form of self-care. Where I am lacking, empower me to be successful in creating, changing and/or maintaining boundaries.
